Before you even start thinking of what needs to go on your baby registry, you need to decide where you want to register. There are so many options like; Buy Buy Baby, Target, Amazon, Walmart and Babylist — just to name a few. So, how on Earth do you choose?
My advice is you register for ALL OF THEM. But let me be clear, this isn’t to share 50 lists with your family and friends, this is to benefit you and your new baby.
With each store registry, you normally get two things:
1. a welcome box or gift of freebies and goodies to try out (most include different items for you and your baby to try out)
2. a close-out discount on your registry
Why this is important… we registered for all the stores and holy moly did it pay off! I realized early on that all of the stores had different close out dates and percentages off. This allowed us to add things as we grew into a new family that had new needs and wants once baby boy was here — what clothes you like, what bottles the baby likes, what diapers are needed.
For example, when our Babies R Us (whomp whomp, as they are closed now) close out discount was closing in, we realized we really needed bottles and different nipple flows for said bottles. So, we added them to the registry and then added them to our cart. Close out discount and boom! We saved some money on things we really needed.
The same for Target. When that close out was about to end, we were able to get baby foods, pouches, spoons and bowls. Added them to the registry and then to the cart. Boom, savings.
You can add items to your registry at any point, so it can be the same day that you add them into your cart 🙂 But they have to be on the registry to apply the close out discount.
The biggest take away is, only really focus on ONE of these registries for your family/friends. Maybe that is Babylist that allows you to add from any store, maybe it’s Target because you love everything there. It doesn’t matter, just pick one to share and use the others a little bit at a time (as they close out on the discounts).
I hope this saves you and your family some time and money as you grow to need all of the things.
