Best Parenting Apps

Finding apps can be a game of Russian Roulette. Some work, some cost money and there are so many. How in the hell do you pick the ones that will work for you and what a parent actually needs? Let me share with you my top three.

Wonder Weeks

The Wonder Weeks worldwide bestselling baby app is a personalized daily calendar of your baby’s development that will keep you informed about the (mental) leaps and bounds and the fussy phases of your baby — any time of day or night. This baby calendar app won prizes in several countries as BEST PARENTING APP

What I especially loved about this app is our first born was 6 weeks early. Hardly any apps would adjust to preemie milestones and leaps, but this app does. It made this new mom a little more sane to know what was coming.

Baby Tracker

Designed by busy parents, for busy parents, Baby Tracker offers a simple, streamlined way to track your baby’s daily habits, health, and exciting “firsts” of those precious early days and months. Log feedings, diaper changes, and sleep patterns with a quick one-handed tap, then feel free to go back later and add details and even photos.

Baby Tracker – Feed (Breastfeeding), Diaper and Sleep Logger makes it simple to track all of your child’s important information for doctors and caregivers, as well as share all the exciting milestones of his or her development with friends and family. Perhaps most importantly, Baby Tracker – Feed (Breastfeeding), Diaper and Sleep Log handles all the details so you never have to take significant time away from the joys of parenting.

Best part of this app? It will sync data among multiple devices for all caregivers or easy sharing of your baby’s progress with others. We used it for me, my husband, my sister and my mom — all who would watch him and help with feedings, diapers and meds. It was a lifesaver to not have to remember, or to keep asking others.

KidsDoc

What should you do if your child develops a fever, cough, vomiting, rash, sore throat or head injury? When can your child return to school or child care after an illness? These are medical advice questions that all parents have. Health problems can arise anytime – evenings, weekends, when you’re at work or traveling or your doctor’s office is closed.

KidsDoc is designed especially for these times. The care guides help you make smart decisions on what level of care (if any) is needed and how to provide speedy symptom relief for minor illnesses or injuries you can manage on your own.

Our pediatrician recommended this app and it was a great to have a resource to use in those, “oh shit, what could be wrong” moments.
